Our Story
After a lot of reflection, my family and I wanted to make changes to our lives. We were constantly looking for the next thing to make us happy, we were spending way too much on a mortgage, and we continued to feel like we were missing something.
That is when the opportunity came up to move back to my hometown, something I said I would never do, but my dad was moving out of his house and he was willing to rent it to us very cheap. Our thoughts were immediately flooded with all the ideas of what kind of life we could live- simple, homestead, quality time with our family, and the list went on. I also wouldn’t have to work full time and I could be home with the kids more. This move was a no-brainer.
The part we didn’t see coming was our relationship with the Lord. Blake and I saw a church on our way to go grocery shopping, one day shortly after our move, and made plans to visit that Sunday. We LOVED the service and after about three weeks we were standing in the lobby of the church having a conversation with Pastor Eric. At that moment we both made the decision to give our lives to God. Our hearts were changed forever and now we try to live every day serving him.
As we learn to navigate this new life, grow our family and our farm, I wanted a place where I could share our experiences and a place I can look back on to reflect. That is where this blog was born- Raised on Purpose is a space where we won’t do it perfectly but we aim to do it prayerfully, believing in God’s plan, and have faithfulness over perfection.
